I have had three different types of litter boxes and litter boxes (sand/grain, wood pellets and this system). There really is no comparison. Sandy/lumpy cat litter is completely unsanitary because it gets everywhere. The wood pellets worked better, but they're mostly the same color as the manure, so it was hard to tell when it was time to change the filling. They also feel separated when they get wet and then they also started crawling out of the litter box. These Breeze pellets are amazing. They're basically the size of pebbles, so they're too big/heavy to get stuck in your cat's fur and get out of the box. But even when they do fall out (and there are usually only a few - we're talking less than five), they look like large pebbles, so they're very easy to see and clear. They are also white, which makes them clean and very easy to see when the filling needs to be changed. The scoop included in the kit is also perfect as the holes are precisely set to the width of the granules allowing you to get a very accurate scoop of the excrement and sift the pebbles. This is truly an extraordinary feat of engineering.
