Review on Ortz Dog Whistle Stop Barking by Ruth Reiners

Not useful for curbing barking but great for calling back

I may not have read carefully enough when purchasing and was under the impression that this is one of those sonic whistles that the human ear can't hear. On the contrary, on the settings we have it's actually a bit annoying and very noisy, but for our "repurposed" use it's enough for it to get dogs' attention. If you're looking for something that will reduce barking or jumping, this may not be what you're looking for, at least in my experience. It took a bit of tweaking to find the right tone. To be honest, he didn't stop barking for a second - the dogs were most interested in the sound. I was about to send him back when my husband decided to check him out off leash with the dogs on the beach. Our voices already have excellent memories, but sometimes our voices can get lost on a very windy day at the beach or ignored by a more interesting distraction. We've found this to be a useful tool for associating Come with the whistle. We're not using it for the intended purpose we had when we bought it, but for the price it's a decent tool if you need to get their attention quickly.

Pros

Cons
  • The list will be long.
