I am a hospital worker who is used to wearing surgical masks but of course I wore them throughout my shift this year for the obvious reason. I'm generally fine with them, but I always look for something to make them more comfortable as most of the time I have issues with either the top of the mask digging into my lower lids or the ear loops chafing the area between my ears. and on the side of my head. All in all, I found this particular face support to be effective, at least reducing contact between my mouth and the mask and providing a more durable fit; Keep in mind that this review probably applies to other clones of this product as well. The mount feels small for an adult's face as it barely fits halfway up my nose and just below my mouth. However, it has to be small enough to fit behind a standard surgical mask, so that's understandable, and it works just fine once you figure it out. This prevents you from opening your mouth fully, but you can still speak normally after you get used to it. It remains secured when the side hooks are placed over the normal "collars" of a standard surgical mask. Overall, it was perfectly comfortable to wear non-stop for hours, and it's easy to clean. The only downside is that after a few hours of wearing it, I took it off and ate the mask in between, and to my horror, I noticed a shocking discoloration on my nose just below the top vertical part of that bar, which makes up the center of the mount. There was no dye/color transfer from this product as it is colorless and it wasn't literally a bruise but an odd darkening of the skin over my nose that I can't quite describe otherwise. Maybe the capillaries burst or something, but at the end of the day everything went back to normal because. changed the mask but no longer wore braces. In fact, I haven't worn it since for fear of doing more damage in the long run. I could imagine modifying this type of mount to avoid the problem described above. Perhaps if the top half were solid (i.e. those two open quadrants were filled), the force would be distributed more evenly across the skin surfaces it contacts. It's also possible that a slightly larger clip could decrease the frequency of nasal contact overall; I have a fairly large nose so other people with smaller noses may not experience any of the above, but it's almost impossible to tell before buying. In conclusion, I cannot rate this product. It works as intended and has a potential design flaw that may not affect some users at all. In my case, I can't confidently wear it for long periods of time, but that's exactly the scenario where the product would be needed: for shorter periods (e.g. entering and leaving a store) it's needed less.
