This product works as advertised; However, there are some issues that are not surprising considering the price. good things first The backlight is bright enough, the remote control is convenient. The strobe and dimming functions aren't very useful, but the adjustable brightness is very handy. The problem with dimming/strobe is that the entire string is completely off. So if that's your only light source, it becomes pitch black. A more pulsing feature is welcome as it goes from the set brightness to around 10%. Alternatively, not every dimming of the light will be proper, but this is not possible due to the design. The main problem is the remote control. Even aiming directly at the sensor doesn't work reliably beyond 15 feet. This is annoying because I have an IR sensor installed in the top corner of a patio canopy and some of my seats are more than 15 feet away so it only works intermittently from those spots. let's see how long it lasts. So far it has weathered an Oklahoma storm with strong winds. Aside from the fact that the radio transmitter doesn't work a bit and most of the settings are pointless (in my opinion), this is a solid purchase. --------- - 1 year update: These lights are much more durable than I expected. They have survived numerous storms, ice, freezing temperatures and constant winds. Everything Oklahoma threw at them in a crazy past year and they still work like new.
