As preparation, I like to have self-contained items that last forever. This emergency radio comes in a small package with many features. It can be charged by winding it up via the solar panel and also connected to USB. I charged it by both cranking and solar and was surprised at how much power was generated in a short amount of time. The radio ran for over an hour in just a minute after launch. The light is very bright and there is also an SOS function which is nice (does a siren and flashes the light). The weather band, AM and FM worked very well and I didn't even try to extend the antennas. It is better to have and not need than not to have and need. It lasts a long time in my pocket and I never have to worry about changing the battery.
