I was hesitant about this purchase because of the many reviews. Some people were disappointed, claiming it was cheap to build; parts did not fit properly; there were no assembly instructions; the screws were immediately pulled out, the dowels did not fit; The list goes on. But then there were reviews of a great purchase, but no details. So I wondered if these people were hackers and just wove this cheap thing together and were just happy because they didn't care or the complaints were legitimate. But a $60 shelf; I have a feeling you can't lose. Two thumbs up for that! This is chipboard furniture. Well-placed, pre-drilled holes for every detail. Even the back panels are pre-drilled with pin holes. It comes with all the necessary hardware and clear and easy to follow assembly instructions, including even wall mounting hardware for extra stability. You will need a screwdriver and a light hammer. 25 minutes from delivery of the box in the kitchen to complete assembly. It looks good and stands securely on the ground. And we use for extra storage. It's strong enough to carry more weight than just a DVD. Now for the nags here in the reviews section. Yes there are instructions. You have to take everything out of the box, fool. The instructions were between the packing foam and the box. The pre-drilled holes are exactly where they should be. If you follow the instructions, there are pictures in it, you will see how to lay out the pieces. The fittings are used immediately. Anyone who claims that all the screws are out is saying you need a screwdriver, not a power tool. This is chipboard. Good job newbie. The pins must not be stuck. I laughed when I read that joke because yeah, I bet your dowel isn't big enough. They help align parts and keep them aligned during assembly. That's all. Someone said that the shelf fell down right after assembling it. The plank is wider than the rest and marked according to the instructions. I can only imagine how messy you put it all together. Okay, I'm done with my tirade. I like the shelf. It was worth my money.
