Let's face it, kids and shoes don't mix. Give a child a pair of shoes and you can be sure that they will find a way to destroy them. With that in mind, my expectations for the shoe aren't above reasonable expectations. So far I am very happy with these boots. My son's left foot is wider than most feet, making it difficult to find shoes for him. The combination of breathable fabric and elastic laces ensures a perfect fit for big feet. He won't hike in them because they're just not his forte, but he runs and jumps and plays enough on the playground that the extra support around his ankle is great. The sole of the shoe is very well made and I expect it to last a reasonable amount of time. If this is the last 6 months before he breaks them or outgrows them I will be a happy parent.
