Good medium duty tripod

This is a very handy tripod for photography and telescope use. I've used mine on both and have no complaints. The ball head is easy to use and works great with a heavy SLR camera. It's not as sleek as the high-end Manfrotto, but it's a mid-to-budget tripod. The tripod is heavy enough to provide a working platform for most of the short to medium length lenses I use. For a large-lens telephoto, you'll likely need something larger. I have lighter tripods that I use for hunting or hiking. These lighter tripods aren't as stable as this one unless I'm hanging my weight on the center post, but they fold shorter and weigh less, making them easier to carry. This tripod is really a compromise between heavy pro-level models that you don't need to carry very far and ultra-light field models that are designed to be carried in a backpack. I've used it for setting up binoculars or a camera around my house and for mobile photo shoots where I had to lug gear in and out of my car but didn't have to travel far with it. It's really good for such applications. If you found anything in my review helpful, please let me know.
