I needed to find a way to photograph merchandise from above. I found a few videos with some pretty tricky setups, but then I discovered this side mount for an existing tripod. It was easy to use with my Canon 5D Mark III and Induro tripod. I didn't even need a counterweight. Great and cheap solution!

It is about 12 inches long and does not stretch. When mounted on a tripod or stand, simply removing the tripod's legs and getting a good picture off the table isn't enough. Also, the clamp that holds the weights rotates and doesn't close, so it just flips it upside down and they fall off. To hold the DSLR it was designed for, it needs to be much longer as it won't work on a tabletop tripod.

I love everything about this tripod. Extremely versatile for shooting from any angle and from any height. Multiple built-in layers to ensure you're set up correctly. High build quality but in a lightweight package. All adjustment knobs are easy to grip (even with gloves) and turn easily.
