My house was built in 1983. So it has all the bells and whistles of the time. Raw cedar beams on vaulted ceilings, plasterwork, an open floor plan and even an indoor bar in the living room. What it does NOT have is entertainment wiring or cables. This speaker cable is a dream come true when you only have a team of 2 and only one of those people is a "squirrel in the attic". Did I mention vaulted ceilings! Which are accompanied by small manholes. Either way, you can leave that junction box on the other end unattended and tug at the cord with a fishing rod, and NO kinks, snags, or tangles (I've had cords in the past that if left limp or unattended like you would a 4 year old putting child to bed with long wet hair and making a rat's nest in the morning). The outer shield also slides into walls like a dream, its total weight enough to drop fairly straight without snagging on other cables while still being flexible enough to maneuver in tight spaces. I could go on talking about lightness for a long time. Use this product whether you're a pro or a weekend loft warrior, but I think I should also mention that the surround sound in my living room is AWESOME! Yes, I'm old school and do have surround speakers. in addition to the surround speaker bar ;)
