Just OK Water Filter

To be honest these aren't the best water filters. I have a water solids tester because I use the device on my 5 wheel trailer and measure it from time to time to make sure my water is safe to drink. It is, but there is a slightly unpleasant taste of the faucet. Of course, tap water in the Pacific Northwest is better than average, and while my water tends to be around 44-47 ppm, most water filters should be able to get that down to 30 if they're really effective. You hardly move the arrow. After rinsing the filter a bit, I ran some tests. The best results I've had with a new Solo mug (to make sure it's a clean surface that doesn't attract dirt/dust) filled with filtered out water was 42ppm. I mean, it's a little nudge in the right direction, but spending money on a filter that lowers the ppm by maybe 5 points? It's not interesting. In comparison, PUR lead reduction filters, which they seem to compete with given the lead reduction advertising, reduce filtered water to youthful levels of 14-17ppm and the water tastes great too. put with this filter, but it's pretty boring. I'm sure if you have "dirtier" water you're trying to filter it might be a little more efficient. Maybe someone using tap water closer to 100ppm will see more dramatic results reducing that 100 to 60, and any filter is better than no filter, but they're not worth buying. My biggest gripe with PUR filters is that half of them tend to get clogged and stop letting water through. I don't mind paying $20 about every 6 weeks for good water filtration, but when the filters fail I feel like I'm not getting my money's worth. That's why I tried them, but it will be a one-time purchase for me because I might have better quality than this one. Even if I only get 3 filters instead of 4, the water I like is worth it.
