I really like this electric blanket! I haven't had an electric blanket since I was a kid in the 70's and was really happy to see how much better they have gotten. This is made of two layers of dark green fleece fabric. Not sure why it's listed as flannel, it's not a plush fleece material. The fabric is super soft. A heating element/wire is clamped between the sewn channels of the blanket. This blanket has some weight but not as heavy as the old electric blankets. The cable from the ceiling to the remote control is very long, so you can use it without having to be near an outlet. The controller has 6 heat settings - 85°F - 90°F - 95°F - 100°F - 105°F - 110°F and eight different time settings - 1 hr - 2 hrs - 3 hrs - 4 hrs. – 5 hrs – 6 hrs – 7 hrs 8 hrs . It has built in overheat protection and will shut off if it gets too hot. So when you're layering blankets, put it on top of the stack. It heats up very quickly, but even at a high temperature, it's not TOO hot, just enough to keep you toasty and warm. I literally have to fight my pets to get into bed at night because they all like to lie on it too. There are detailed instructions for washing if necessary. Read them carefully so as not to damage the ceiling when washing. I haven't done it yet, but I'll be very careful. This duvet is double the size so be aware. It's great to let you lie on the couch in front of the TV!
