I was really hoping that most if not all of the negative reviews would come from people who just don't know what they are doing. I've successfully repaired 1 iPad screen and 1 iPhone screen in the past, so I haven't shyed away from it. I made sure I had the correct model (Mini 4 A1538) and ordered this part. It packs satisfactorily and apart from a strange amount of air bubbles under the protective film, the device looks okay. I'm a computer nerd and I'm very into electronics. I wore an anti-static wrist strap (albeit unnecessarily) and took extra care not to damage the pins or bend the wire straps. Installation was easy (even without instructions) and I was confident it would work. The iPad in question had been inactive for months, so I assumed the battery was dead. After the installation was complete, I plugged in the iPad and impatiently waited for the low battery icon to appear. But nothing. I heard a beep signaling that the iPad had power, so I waited a bit. After about an hour of hoping for something - flash, flash, flicker - I finally admitted the device was defective. I brought the iPad back to the desktop and checked all my tabs and ports again and again the screen didn't work. I was also able to verify that the iPad was actually working by connecting it to my computer and viewing its contents in iTunes. (I also made a backup) I plan to contact the seller and see what can be done.
