This was perfect for replacing the worn elastic drawstring on my toasted warm down jacket. It was easy to work with him. I just tied the end to an old shoelace and pulled through. To thread the new elastic through the small eyelets on the jacket, I held the needle parallel to the end of the elastic and pierced the elastic with the needle. The needle provided the necessary rigidity and to my delight the elastic was strong enough to withstand a needle stick. After that, it was easy to thread the elastic through the compressible plastic hardware, which I use to change the tightness of the hood on my head. And as I tied knots on the cut ends of the elastic and pulled them tight, I saw that they weren't going to unravel easily. The whole job took only a few minutes. and my jacket is like new. If this product came in the right shade of red, I would buy the red one. But, hey, black goes with everything.
