Review on G Shock GX 56BB Blackout Watches Black by Gabriel Elliott

Really big watch, really sturdy watch

I've had the GX56BB-1 solar powered (dimmable version) for a few weeks now. For me this was a good buy from Revain. This is one of three watches I own. I also have an older G Shock Rangeman and a Timex Command Shock 200m. I like all three equally and for different reasons. I'm a tall guy with big wrists and they fit pretty well, but they're big enough to push against the back of my hand/wrist every time my hand reaches back toward my body (think push-ups). This is not entirely impractical, but definitely noticeable. Now I knew it was a big fat watch so I'm not surprised at how it fits but it's something to keep in mind before ordering. I'm strict with clocks and smash them against walls, corners, furniture and all the time so I needed something not to worry about. There are some nice watches out there, but I'm not a collector and would probably end them early given the way I live. However, this thing is a tank. I haven't had the fogging issue others have mentioned in reviews, but I haven't dived with it yet. I snorkel with my wife when we are on vacation so I firmly intend to carry it for such light underwater use. I have no doubt that he laughs at such applications. Good luck destroying it if you're not trying to on purpose. Everything about the watch works as expected. I like a solar function. batteries suck. As mentioned by many others, this G Shock doesn't have the multi-band Atomic feature, but it just doesn't cost the extra money to have that feature. Do you want to know the exact time? Just go to time.gov and set the clock as needed. He doesn't lose twenty seconds a day or anything. Mine runs about +2 seconds every month, so no big deal. The buttons are a bit stiff, but work great. I would prefer a watch where the buttons are overly complex and harder to press than a watch where the buttons are easy to press or anemic about durability. Setting the clock, using a timer, using a stopwatch, etc. is relatively easy to do. Another great feature of this watch is the fact that it has a really long strap. I hate dealing with watches with tiny straps that aren't long enough to fit a man's wrist. The strap on this watch is just long enough that I'm not on the last or second to last mark so I don't have to worry about losing anything. Thanks very much! The only minor gripe I have with this G Shock is the display. It's not difficult to read, but it's also not the most prominent display a watch has ever had. The backlight works great so there are no problems reading in complete darkness. The problem is that the light is bright enough that the backlight doesn't work or turn on (mine is set to turn on automatically), but not bright enough from the outside to make the watch easy to read. In these cases the watch will still be read, but it will take some time to confirm the read. Although in bright light/sunlight the watch is fine. Again, this is a minor point. The watch is excellent. Just wanted to clarify that the negative display is cool but requires a bit of user customization. This is a "tactical" or dimming clock, after all, so a negative reading makes sense from that perspective. Looking for a durable watch that doesn't need to be spoiled? You want a product that keeps time perfectly and will serve you well for many years? This is for you. I love it.
