Audible improvement!

I purchased this item with the intention of trying it out, found it unusable and returned it within a 30 day trial period. I plugged it into my system and let it burn out for 3 days and then started streaming music files from my collection of FLAC and MP3@320 albums. I always get new music based on review sites like Metacritic, Pitchfork, All Music Guide and others, but mostly I've been listening to stuff I've had for so long that it would be easier to spot an audible improvement. Again I didn't expect anything. What I started to hear was improved treble clarity, bass boost, and a deeper soundstage. On many recordings, the vocals became clearer and more "disconnected" from the instrumentation, both lead and backing vocals. As I continued to listen, my enjoyment of the improved listening only increased. The final straw in my decision to leave iFi was listening to Don Henley's CD Building the Perfect Beast on flac. Each track revealed a new musicality. On "Sunset Grill" every time the synth entered the mix it seemed to jump out of the speakers! Real dynamic range! My system consists of Media Monkey>Logitech Media Server>Netgear Wireless Server>Logitech Duet>ifi SPDIF Purifier>Schiit Bifrost 4490 DAC>Sony DA5700ES A/V Receiver>Goldenears 3D SoundArray Soundbar>Goldenears Invisa in ceiling surround>Subwoofer RSL Speedwoofer 10 (2). I have 63 year old ears but they could tell this little guy was a keeper. What a pleasant surprise.

Pros
  • MULTIPLE DEVICE USE - Used as a splitter for simultaneous optical and coaxial output to two devices
Cons
  • I'll write later
