Update: Unfortunately I can now confirm that these bulbs are extremely finicky and prone to power issues. I experienced exactly the same phenomenon with two additional light bulbs. This time by turning off another light in the same bathroom. Both lightbulbs caught fire and eventually burned out. Update: I think these bulbs are prone to power issues. We have a heater in the same room. It's on a different circuit. I turned it off and two of those lights blinked. Both eventually burned down. I replaced 8 lightbulbs in our plumbing fixtures. Color and brightness are very good substitutes for 50w halogen. I've only had the pears for a few months so I can't comment on shelf life. I thought I had a problem with the quality of the lamp as one of the lamps blew out right away. I replaced it and the bulb in the same fixture blew out again. I replaced it a third time and the same bulb burned out and when it burned out a different bulb lit up in the fixture. Yes, I replaced both of them again and the same thing happened again (slow learner). It turned out that there was a tiny hole in one of the wires leading to the lamp. The short did not cause any noticeable problems with the halogen bulbs I was replacing, but it did burn out the LEDs. When the first two bulbs burned out, I contacted the company about a bulb quality issue. They immediately offered to replace the broken lightbulbs.
