This is a great idea, they are very strong and durable. I love that there is a zipper on the side so you can access the potatoes and onions from the bottom first since they are the oldest. However, after 6 months of use, I can say with confidence that these packs, at least in my case, are speeding up the decomposition of my onions and potatoes. I've had onions and potatoes in baskets side by side (which you shouldn't) and stored for weeks - with these bags my onions spoil and my potatoes go soft and wrinkled within a week. I've tried leaving packages closed, open, in the pantry and on the counter and it doesn't matter. I tried well, but now I'm moving on to hanging mesh bags.
