Review on Extended Range IR Kit - Xantech DL95K Universal Dinky Link by Jeanie Escobedo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It works great with my plasma TV but be prepared for some issues.

This is my second Xantech product that had a problem with the connector on the IR receiver. Xantech product line. These are good products and will serve you for a long time. I'm pleased to see that after years of IR flashers falling apart, Xantech has finally updated the design. These new turn signals (4 included with this item) appear to be one piece so should last much longer. I bought this kit because I needed to replace my current turn signals and also because my current one was affected by my new plasma panel. As mentioned, this IR receiver is not affected by LED lights, CFLs in my house, or a plasma panel. I have an IR receiver behind a fabric panel (e.g. behind a speaker grill) and it works fine there. The problem I had and the reason for only 3 starts was the 1/8th stereo jack on the IR receiver. For the second time in a row, the internal connection was poor and the device didn't work right away. I had to cut off the connector and solder a new one which luckily I had. I confess I have not contacted Xantech about this. I disassembled my home theater and had no intention of putting it back in the closet just to get it out again in hopes of getting a new receiver. In summary I can say that this is a good product and it does what it is supposed to do. . However, the lack of quality control can leave you scratching your head and/or putting everything back together.
