In the floor lamp in the corner of our dining room, this bulb illuminates the entire living room, as well as the entire short hallway and a few feet into the bedrooms. Under a beige lampshade, it emits a beautiful hybrid light that combines the warmth of the lampshade and pure white indirect light reflected from the ceiling. If you don't like the effect, screw the bulb over the stove or garage workbench where the family cook and/or carpenter will appreciate it.
