Fast, Reliable, and Affordable

For those who want the short version, this USB stick is very fast and meets advertised read/write speeds. The hinged lid is very good and the drive is aesthetically pleasing. The only downside I've found so far is that the drive can get very hot when copying many files at once. Worth the price? Yes. highlighted? Definitive. For those wanting more detail, WRITE SPEEDI copied 18GB of music (2346 files total) to a flash drive in about 13 minutes, which is about half the advertised write speed of 50MB/s. However, it's still very fast, especially considering that copying many files at once slows down transfer speeds. Copying a 3GB movie (which was a single file) to the drive took 38 seconds, about 30MB/s faster than advertised write speeds. READING SPEED It took 2 seconds to rip 1GB of music (98 files in total) from a disc. seconds. Copying the same 3GB film from the write speed test took 4 seconds. These speeds are incredibly fast, far exceeding the advertised speed of 150MB/s. It is worth noting that I copied these files from a flash drive to both SSD and HDD. In general, the transfer rate for the hard drive was about 3 times slower and closer to the advertised write speed. Since SSDs are faster than HDDs, this result was to be expected. DESIGN The overall design of the flash drive is beautiful. This not only looks cool, but is also practical. It's short and thin and doesn't block adjacent USB ports on my PC. The 360Β° rotating lid rotates easily and doesn't add much to the thickness of the device. It also locks every 90Β° so it doesn't rotate when you don't want it to, and the latch releases easily with a light finger pressure. If you wish to hang the drive from a keychain or string, there is a small hole in the lid for that purpose. The decision to make a hole in the lid was a wise decision as it allows the lid to rotate freely. The only drawback of the design is that when transferring a large number of files at once, the flash drive can get very hot, but after the transfer is complete, the drive cools down fairly quickly. As for the materials that make up the drive, the main body is made of hard plastic and the cover is made of metal. The drive feels solid in my hand and I think it would take a pretty hard hit to damage it.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good, but not great
