RAM is generic and OS independent, but your motherboard will dictate the generation of RAM you need to buy and also dictate how much it can hold. In my case my RAM DDR3 I can't buy DDR2 I can't buy ddr4 it doesn't work on my motherboard max 16GB if I buy 32 it doesn't work these are the only two things that really matter, when it comes to RAM
