I was worried that the iridescence of the wood would make it look too shiny and tacky but it's actually very pretty. Brilliant but not overwhelming. You really need to take your time and fluff up each branch - remember, real trees aren't perfectly symmetrical! You can form the branches of this tree in perfectly symmetrical rows, but then it looks sparse. When properly roughened, it looks great. It's not super strong, but it's not flimsy either. It should be okay if hit when kids are playing or picking up gifts, but it won't handle an attack from a cat or dog without glitches. For the price I expect that and will definitely buy it again. I have had at least 7 different artificial trees over the last 20 years and this is the best considering the price!
