Revainrating 4 out of 5

Short but detailed test report

I have had this device for 2 months and have never regretted it since. However, this product has its drawbacks associated with a low price. TLDR SUMMARY. Sound quality: 4/5 Bluetooth sound quality sounds good. There is a small number of artifacts in the sound that only experienced listeners will notice. However, when connected to CarPlay, the sound quality is phenomenal. I agree as I primarily use CarPlay, but I think Bluetooth compression noise could easily be fixed with a better Bluetooth receiver at minimal cost. The surround controls, EQs and bass are great and are stored internally in the main unit. There is an option to control the subwoofer individually without having to turn off the bass for all speakers in the car, which is a plus. Touchscreen/Response: 3/5 Screen quality and response are minimal for a decent navigation experience. User interface. Loading times are a bit slow if you are used to fast loading times from modern computers. What looks like 10 seconds seems like an eternity to me, but that's just my opinion. The menu navigation has a delay of about half a second, which I can at least easily forgive. The screen resolution is also the lowest. Honestly, I'd pay $100 more just for a 1080p panel on the device, period. In addition, the colors are easily washed out by the brightness. Sometimes it's difficult to see the screen while driving in the sun and see different shades of color in the navigation app. The screen size pretty much makes up for these shortcomings. It's large enough to read text at a glance, e.g. B. upcoming turns in the navigation app in CarPlay. Also, the look of the unit in the car only enhances the look of the car (I own a 2006 Scion in 2021). - Value for money: 5/5 Despite all these minor flaws, you pretty much get what you paid for. But in the end it comes down to how much you value CarPlay/AndroidAuto. CarPlay is widely supported until Apple decides to kill it for its own head unit, which may never be the case. Until then, you'll get updates on your phone (if your phone is supported) that will be reflected in CarPlay. And yet, as long as the head unit continues to function, the cost of this head unit easily exceeds its $199 asking price. Conclusion If you're not into CarPlay/AndroidAuto, don't buy this, buy something cheaper. The tablet looks like a CarPlay/AndroidAuto head unit, buy it or expect better.
