Review on COLETTI Boulder Camping French Press - Large Insulated Coffee Maker – 10 CUP by Tiffany Staley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It looks good and all the details are there, but...

This is an American company, but the product is made in China. Soapbox Time: We need to do something about this again and escape Chinese control so we don't owe them or anyone anything. We are addicted to cheap labor and cheap things. We are not free if we are economic slaves. In any case, the French Press looks very nice and appears to be made entirely of stainless steel. It works as it should and minimizes the coffee grounds that could get into the coffee through the strainer. Cleaned enough every day. The O-ring seems to fit snugly on the lid. However, it doesn't keep the coffee "hot for over 4 hours" as the company/site claims. I would give a maximum of one hour inside. I preheat the vessel with boiling water before adding the coffee grounds, and I have a 3/8" thick cork liner. This is how I warm my Black Rifle coffee mug. The house is constantly 70 degrees. The vacuum-tight double-walled container is intact, but there is still heat transfer going on. I hate to think about what it would be like to work outside on a cold morning. I love this company and the business philosophy behind it, but I can't say anything that isn't true based on mine Experience with the product. That's why I'm only giving 4 stars and it's benevolent I think. The performance deserves 3 stars and that's just for the looks and the first cup.But it looks good on the kitchen counter and at least it does in the first cup of hot, delicious coffee with no metallic aftertaste.I just wish it would work on par with a $20 thermos.
