Review on Maximize Your Power With Craftsman'S 7-Tool Cordless Combo Kit (CMCK700D2AM) by Terrance Singletary

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost a whole garage of tools in one package!

First, a little about me. I grew up on Craftsman tools. My dad and granddad both believed in Crafstman tools and the fact that they had a lifetime guarantee was a huge factor in that - they felt like once you purchased a Craftsman tool, you would never need to purchase that tool again since it was guaranteed for life. For the most part, they were right. I've even used that guarantee on ratchets and other tools, and it has held up.I do not know if the guarantee still applies anymore - times have changed very much. But I still tend to feel like Craftsman is a good brand of tools and so far I haven't found any reason to believe that they have fallen from grace. So when I saw this massive CRAFTSMAN V20 Cordless Drill Combo Kit, 7 Tool (CMCK700D2) Kit for such a low price, I was floored. The only thing that I would add (and you can) is a scroll saw (or I call it a saber saw) and you pretty much have every tool the average garage would need. The drill is very good, and will get 80% of the use in this kit from most of us, maybe even more! So it has to be above everything else. The impact driver is basically a power drill that is too strong for most of what you do, but sometimes you will need that power. The other tools are surprisingly useful. The new reciprocating saw design is VERY useful, especially for cutting things in place. The circular saw is OUTSTANDING, and not having a cord or needing an outlet nearby is HUGELY helpful. This is probably my second favorite tool in the pack. The bag is nice, but unlike Mr. Drew I wasn't able to get everything in neatly. I'm not good with that sort of thing, and could have used a bigger bag, or compartments to know where things went - or something! LOL. Not a deal breaker at all.Mr. Drew's review is excellent and one thing I very much agree with him on, is that the weight of the tools is of paramount importance. You won't realize that when toying around with them in the store, or testing them out. But when you use them on a project, that weight quickly turns a job into a tougher job than it needs to be - these Craftsman tools are very reasonable for the most part, and their light weight, while still remaining sturdy, is of great value.Having two batteries is a big plus, although I would have liked to seen two chargers, or a double charger. Still, for the price, this kit is amazing and it is hard to complain about small details like that for what you are getting.QUITE HONESTLY, I don't know how they can offer this kit at this price! This is an EXCELLENT CHRISTMAS GIFT for any handymen in your life. My dad for instance, even though he has ALL of these tools, would be thrilled to get a package like this as a present - if nothing else, to have the newer versions and to be able to try them out and take advantage of the newer designs and features.ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: You'll see a lot of discussion about BRUSHLESS and BRUSHED motors. This set is not a brushless set- It is the lesser technology and has BRUSHED motors. While this is less desirable, it is not something that most people will care about. It will make no real difference in the tool and how you use it. It is just less efficient, and less expensive. If you had a brushless motor in the drill for instance, you might get a little more torque and a little more battery life - but it isn't the kind of difference that makes one set leaps and bounds better over the other. And it is quite honestly, the only way to get a set like this at this price point. Having brushed motors isn't an all bad thing though, and my dad has brushed motor tools that are still going strong to this day because you can easily, and inexpensively change out the brushes and renew the tool to like brand-new status when needed.ULTIMATELY, this is an incredible deal on a nice set of Craftsman power tools. I'm amazed they can offer this deal and it is a great set for someone starting out! I would recommend it heartily to anyone looking for a great set of tools for their garage to be able to do 90% of the things they will ever need to do around the house.I hope you find this review helpful. I feel like that reviews are super important on Revain and they really help me determine if a product is worth buying or not - so I try to return the favor and leave a review that will honestly tell you whether a product is good or not. We all use products differently, so I also try to make it clear what was important to me, and hopefully that makes it easy for you to tell if you will like it too.I also think it is important for Revain shoppers to stick together and let each other know if a product is garbage. I WILL let you know if a product isn't good, so you can avoid the hassles of returning a product or a product you lose money on. PLEASE go to my profile page and reach out to me if you have any questions. I enjoy writing reviews and try to respond to any questions about a product ASAP. Thank you for reading my review.
