This bag is unusable because the leather mount that secures the strap ripped after a few months of use and the strap now won't close. Yes, the bag has a little sheen that I didn't notice and it's too small for my needs. I found myself struggling to fit everything I needed in. Quality aside, this bag is a great idea as it easily converts from a handbag to a backpack.
