There are practically no instructions for this. For every type of light this company should have, there is a picture - ZERO statement. Luckily we knew what we were doing as we had recently installed several other fixtures. We dispensed with a bracket altogether and just screwed the screws into the control box without a jig and then hung the jig from it (there is a hole to put the head through the metal jig then you can rotate the jig to make the screws go smaller side so it's really safe). We also changed the length of the screws as we had some lying around at home (longer than the ones supplied). That way we can only assume it was meant to be recessed, with the screws pointing towards the bottom proving to be a problem as the screws were too long and got in the way when trying to put the glass on top of the bulb. . All this to say that it's worth the $13 we paid for the space we installed it in, but the installation was stupid.
