Review on Philips Norelco AT830 46 Frustration by Debbie Daly

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice razor, nice design but cannot be used when plugged in and my print has faded. And your?

In terms of functionality, it's great. I always choose this classic Norelco design as I think it's the best ever. I replaced my 4 year old Norelco (that's right 4 years with no new blades or any issues so I trust this brand) with this one. Not as well made as my old one, but still very nice. The handle material has replaced the body material of previous models (is it for function or for cutting corners? I don't know). Cool digital display. It has improved water resistance compared to my previous model. The first time I used it I didn't have to shave longer than usual because it was so tight. In addition, this model does not allow you to shave while it is connected to the network. Guess what? My latest model with a dead battery didn't mean it was brick because I could plug it in and shave. This. Since the battery no longer holds a charge (and I bet it's cheaper than previous models and will die quicker) it's probably useless. At this point, will you replace the battery or just buy a new one ahead of time? My old one lasted so long. It just got boring and rough and it's time to replace it. In conclusion: I was very disappointed with the attention to detail that Norelco usually shows. The print on the back is blurred in places, uneven and actually only enhances the overall picture of the product (see photo"ELECTRONICS" is blurred in the first letters, there are problems in other places). This is very noticeable to the naked eye. If they don't at least make their prints look nice on the outside, what's the quality of the material like on the inside? Little things like this make me think the brand is on the decline. Or cheaper products specially for Revain, or some QC/QA middlemen are not used to cut corners. Hassle-free packaging is a euphemism for compromise, and it was very cheap for a supposedly high-quality product. Don't get me wrong, this thing is efficient and functionally amazing, but it's being used as an experiment to see if it really is. lasts as long as the last one and see if the brand can still compete with their rugged old products.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine
