This 24 piece puzzle is well made, durable and will stand up to many cycles state of engagement and disengagement. It is large enough to be walked on the floor, but not so large that it is difficult for a child to reach out and form a straight-edged frame. The shapes of the pieces are unique and not just the typical boring puzzle shapes. The quality of this puzzle is what I have come to expect from Melissa and Doug products. However, visually it is a bit unsightly. My 3-year-old granddaughter, who loves puzzles, is not exactly picky about the choice of animals. The animals appear to be pasted onto blocks of color with thick white strokes rather than having any context within their frame. It gives the impression of a lazily put together design with no attempt at artistry or visual appeal.
