Review on Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Electric Toothbrush, White Edition - HX9112: Ultimate Dental Cleaning at Your Fingertips by Jill Ellis

I keep coming back to Sonicare.

Sonicare Flexcare Platinum is a great electric toothbrush. It's feature-rich, compact, and does a great job of cleaning. Before writing this review, let me say that I have owned many electric toothbrushes over the years and Sonicares have always been my favorites. I recently had an Oral-B Professional 4000 and loved it, but missed my Sonicare so I bought this. This Sonicare model is a lot smaller than the old model I had and even smaller than the Oral. -B. However, it is large enough to be easily grabbed. It is also very nicely finished, made of high-quality plastic and feels good in the hand. Sonicare comes with two cleaning heads, a charging dock, and a hard travel case (which is good, but I prefer the soft travel cases that came with Sonicare). I chose this particular Sonicare model because I liked the three modes it offered. There is a normal cleaning mode, a whitening mode and a deep cleaning mode. I use a regular routine in the morning and a deep cleanse in the evening. Normal mode is the default 2-minute clean, while Deep Clean mode extends that time to 3 minutes. I don't really use the whitening program as I find it moderately successful at best. In addition to the 3 modes, you can also choose from 3 intensity settings. I always use maximum intensity, but it's nice to have a choice. If you've never used an electric toothbrush before, you're probably in for a revelation. Nothing beats the sparkling clean feeling that Sonicare delivers. Sonicare has a built-in timer with a quadspacer, meaning it will pause every 30 seconds to let you know it's time to move to a different quadrant of your mouth (or every 45 seconds in deep clean mode). Once the timer runs out, the brush will turn off. It takes approximately 24 hours to fully charge the battery and approximately 3 weeks between charges. Unlike Oral-B, this battery is a more complex lithium-ion type. Cleaning the Sonicare is easy. There aren't many crevices for dirt to collect in, and all you need is a quick rinse with warm water when you're done brushing. I always keep the brush head separate from the handle when I'm not using my toothbrush so everything can dry completely. Unlike older Sonicares, the brush head doesn't have a large cavity for mold and dirt to collect. In general. wonderful brush. Expensive but great.

Pros
  • Removes up to 10 times more plaque than a standard Philips Sonicare Deepest Cleaning Toothbrush
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
