Review on Catz Rock Band PRO ADAPTER Wii Nintendo by Charles Lewellen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Wii to RB3 midi adapter is great

I was excited when I saw the keyboard support in RB3 but as I already had a pretty decent Yamaha keyboard I didn't want to get into a very invest limited RB3 keyboard "mini". The midi adapter seemed like the obvious solution, and it works great - no setup required, just plug it into your KB and a USB port on the Wii with a midi cable (not included). Keyboard support in RB3 isn't bad, though not all. there are songs The PRO mode (which includes Bs and sharps for the black keys) can be quite complex, so it's recommended to start with the simple non-professional mode until you get used to it. A slightly annoying issue is that the set of keys that RB3 maps shifts up or down depending on the song. I had to hit the "test" button on the keyboard every time I started a new song just to make sure I was playing in the right octave. Also, especially with faster songs, it can be difficult to distinguish between white and black notes coming towards you on the screen. As others have pointed out, animated graphics can make this problem worse as they tend to hide the notes until they are almost overhead. Those issues aside, keyboard support is a great addition to the RB3, and the midi adapter lets you add a real keyboard to the action.
