I use this for both hot and cold. The weight is just perfect for everyone. I even use it when my kids have ear or stomach ache. This is a relief from upper and middle back pain. It's also great for people who often have cramps around this time of the month. My whole family uses it. I just wish there was a little more herbal scent but that's ok, I just add a few drops of lavender essential oil or soothing oil after heating and use as is. When using it cold, I put it in a gallon freezer bag, seal tightly, and place in the freezer for 4 or more hours.
