Review on Purina Fancy Feast Classic Seafood Feast Variety Cat Food (Possible packaging variations) by Tia Campbell

Our cat went crazy for Purina Fancy Feast Seafood Pate!

Our (approx) 12 year old foster cat (not obese, just a large girl weighing about 19.5 pounds) who loves Purina Fancy Feast and other Purina foods has the potential for prerenal Insufficiency. Although Chloe drinks frequently, she was dehydrated at her last vet appointment (after 2 UTIs in 6 months). She ate dry food for years and suddenly had problems with constipation. The vet has advised that a cat with a urinary tract infection will experience pain when defecating and will therefore try NOT to defecate and will often become ill afterwards. She recommended adding wet food to reduce dehydration and constipation. We added canned Purina urinary tract food to Purina dry food, mashed it up and gave her a small amount because the only way she could eat it was by licking it but refusing to chew any part of the wet food. We save the rest and heat it in the microwave for 8 or 9 seconds before serving. Her constipation stopped. Aha! We give her her other Purina wet food for a change and she loves them all. Thanks to their sample kit, available through Revain, we had several new Purina products to try, including their Fancy Feast in Broth and some canned (wet) foods. Chloe prefers pie because it doesn't leave tiny lumps (which she will lick off and ignore) after pureeing. We then tried Purina's Fancy Feast Seafood Classic Pate. Flavours: spicy salmon (min. 11% crude protein), saltwater whitefish (min. 12% crude protein) and a combination of cod, sea flounder and shrimp flavors (min. 12% crude protein). The cans were received in January 2018 and the expiry date was December 2019. Chloe loved them and was crazy about the taste of the whitefish and tuna, actually wanted more (unlike her) after we gave her the usual amount of 1/5 to 1 ,/4 3-ounce cans. We usually give her this amount of wet food 3 times a day because she eats little. She actually ate 1/2 can of whitefish and tuna! This is great news for us because if she eats more wet food we don't have to give her multiple servings every day. Unfortunately after years of using another brand we have come to the conclusion that all Purina cat foods are excellent. We are so glad we switched to Purina! Little Lagniappe: Chloe has been treading water for years so we had towels everywhere she sat and we always cleaned the spots near her food and water bowls. My husband (nail clippers, medication dispenser, etc.) cleaned her bum regularly with cat wipes. 2 days after giving her a prescribed stool softener and adding wet food to her diet, the pounding stopped noticeably. Yes, stopped! Isn't it amazing! If you have a cat that eats kibble, try adding some canned food daily and you'll be pleasantly surprised too! :)
