Review on 🔧 Dorman 917-327 Transmission Fluid Measuring Tool: Perfect fit for Select Models by Jon Brazil

The right tool for the job when you know how

I'm a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge builder and I'll say it's as good as the milling tool that Chrysler sells dealer delivers. Despite all the reviews saying the length was wrong, these people have no idea what they are talking about. This applies to Chrysler vehicles that do not have a dipstick, just a cap on the dipstick tube that says "dealer only". You will need a scan tool to measure the transmission oil temperature and a service information chart specific to that vehicle that shows what the maximum to minimum level should be based on the oil temperature. So you check the fluid temperature with a scanner, check the minimum and maximum range for that temperature on the chart, and then insert the dipstick into the dipstick tube until it touches the bottom of the transmission pan. The stick displays the liquid level in centimeters and you compare the liquid level reading in cm with the graphic and the displayed liquid temperature. So it's the right tool for the job in the right hands, but it's a generic dipstick that alone cannot check the correct oil level without knowing the transmission oil temperature and without access to the correct fill schedule for the vehicle in question.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Too dumb
