I am very satisfied with this portable DVD player. So I decided to buy a couple of (cheap) speakers. Even at full volume, the audio wasn't as loud as I'd like (and I bought headphones and an extension cord for that, too). The instructions were not well written so it took some time to figure out how to change the settings. Perform initial setup. But after reading the instructions a couple of times and just using common sense, I was able to figure out what to do. Warning: The original image is not very good - too dark. But once you go through the setup and change the default/factory settings to something that suits your liking, the picture quality is excellent. FYI and FWIW, here are the image/video settings I liked. Press the "Setup" button on the remote control, then use the right directional button to move across the top icons until you reach the reel icon (and the yellow oval "shadow" is under the film reel). Press OK or Enter button and you will go to panel quality setting. The initial settings are all at Low/Zero. I changed all but one (I left Hue as is). My settings are as follows: Sharpness: High; Brightness: 06; Contrast: 07; Saturation: 05; and Hue: 00. I also left the aspect ratio at 16:9. Once the settings are to your liking, click the "Settings" button again and you're done. The end result is a very good quality image, although you may not be able to see it very far from the center (or outdoors unless in a well-shaded area). But of course that only applies to one person. I often use it in the kitchen when washing dishes. I wouldn't "first watch" a movie that way (while doing the dishes), but the ones I've seen or the tutorial DVDs are great. All in all, I'm glad I made the purchase.
