Almost perfect packaging

This is excellent quality packaging. I bought this to replace another Camelbak Trizip that also has Futura straps. The Trizip is a great backpack, but I found its molle position awkward and wanted more cargo capacity. This BFM is an improvement on both. I was happy to be able to fit two large 1.5 liter Camelbak vacuum flasks in the side pockets without eating them into the main hold. The full molle plate on the front gave more mounting space when needed. The Futura strap works great with both backpacks. Both backpacks have similar disadvantages. The belt isn't very effective for heavy loads and without Molle it misses the ability to attach quick access pouches. I was able to attach the (discontinued) Mystery Ranch Live Wings to my waistband which greatly improved load distribution and comfort. It also accepts Molle pouches. There is no molle panel in the main cargo area like the Rubicon, which would have made the backpack more flexible if I was carrying too much luggage. Although there are quite a few organizers in the second cargo compartment, it's the furthest from my body and the pack hangs when there are few items in the main compartment. I am thinking of adding some lifting straps or a beaver tail to counteract this. Finally, a zip for the hydration bladder compartment runs under the shoulder straps to increase the load for the shoulder straps. This makes it difficult to open the compartment and pull out the water bladder or laptop when used as a laptop sleeve.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
