Review on ☕ Siphon 8-Cup Yama Stove Top Coffee Maker - 32oz/950ml by Dominique Phillips

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A great way to enjoy coffee, with one caveat

I'm so addicted to this vacuum coffee maker that I bought a fourth one. Why so many you say? Well, because the glass is quite delicate and fragile. No problem when using, but when washing make sure that nothing touches the glass rod. Gently tapping on nearby hard surfaces will instantly shatter the glass tube. I've learned to be very careful with it since my first. By the way, I'm not the proverbial "cop in a china shop". LOL reason number four though is that the bottom of the tube broke off and cracked from contact with the metal hook on the spring that holds the filter block in place. The spring tension is light so there is no excessive pressure. This device number three has been serviced once a day since April 2020. I don't think I've ever had a Pyrex brand glass jar break like this, so I'm wondering if Yama's borosilicate glass could be thinner or just not to the same specifications. It is also possible that Pyrex thermal glass was not used for this type of container. So does it make great coffee? Absolutely! However, this requires some experience and setup, as well as an understanding of your personal preferences. I just want some parts of the Yama vacuum sealer to be reinforced with stainless steel or something in key places. Then it would be perfect and deserves all five stars.

Pros
  • Vacuum technology preserves your coffee's aroma and flavor
Cons
  • Useless features
