Beware RF-2400D

The RF-2400D uses a new DSP chip that you thought should be better, but it isn't. On FM, each station is played in three places when you turn it on, making tuning difficult. For the best reception you should try to fix the average. With AM, the DSP chip tries to attenuate the noise between stations, resulting in the weaker stations not getting through at all because the chip thinks it's just noise and mutes them. Also, the DSP chip filters out higher and higher audio frequencies, causing the sound to become dull and flat (fortunately only on AM, not FM). If you only listen to strong talk-to-speech AM stations, you might be fine. The biggest problem, however, is the setup. The DSP chip makes the tuning "spongy" with a lot of "backlash". It is difficult to tune into the station. I suspect the DSP chip will probably work better in a radio with digital tuning, but this radio uses analog tuning and it's not a good combination. The older RF-2400 (without the "D") does not have a DSP chip and therefore does not have these problems. This is a good set if you can still find it. I recommend it. Luckily the seller was kind enough to accept my return of the "D" model. I appreciate that very much.
