Review on πŸ“» TIDRADIO UV-82 ham radio handheld with free programming cable and long antenna - (2Pack, Black) by James Hodzic

Good radios at a good price but the extra antenna is rubbish

These UV-82 HP radios are fantastic radios. Better than UV-5R style with higher radio speaker power and two button PTT, one for each channel. They offer three power levels up to a maximum power of 8W and are fully programmable. The supplied portable microphone with speaker works well and is suitable for use and has a connector for an earphone on the speaker. The programming cable works well with no driver needed as long as you keep the speaker's mic plug plugged in for the first half dozen or so programming times. After that, the cable doesn't seem to need any additional tension. The battery is 2800 mAh instead of the base 1800 mAh, which is good. The bad news is the TIDRADIO 771 antenna. It's junk and works a lot worse than the usual rubber ducky that comes with radios. I was hoping that this pack would fit two radios with better than OEM antennas, but it doesn't. It may benefit from a more efficient antenna, but they work well with a factory antenna. At this price, they're still a good buy if you need two transceivers with portable mics and a programming cable. The one thing you don't get by spending more on Baofeng than the TRIDRADIO brand is an FCC label stating the device is Part 90 certified.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options
