Review on JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (Red) by Gilbert Pfaff

Not worth a chance.

I'm sad to write this review but I have to evaluate it on the long run and what it's really worth. First, the sound quality is amazing. can easily fill a room or two with music. I've never had distortion issues when it had more than 20% battery. Now for the bad. I've had my JBL Xtreme for 17 months now and it's holding up very well and has never been dropped or spilled on the speaker. I kept it in a padded case for very light travel. Then suddenly, when unplugged, the speaker randomly turned off and the only way to turn it back on was to plug it in, even if the battery was over 90% charged. I've googled this issue and it seems to be very common with JBL Xtreme and some of their other bluetooth speakers in general. I contacted their support team and after a few days they concluded that it was a faulty speaker and the only thing I could do as a buyer was send my serial number and proof of purchase and see if it was under guarantee. I looked at the warranty and found it was only 1 year after purchase. I didn't send my serial number or proof of purchase but asked if the warranty has expired, they can do something. They said no even though I told them how well the speaker is holding up and that this is a common problem with their speakers and I shouldn't be penalized for my speaker not lasting longer than the short 1 year warranty. After an email explaining my situation and the condition of the speaker, etc., they ignored everything I said about the condition of the speaker, the general problem, and any concerns I had, and just slapped me with "Hello there is a coupon code for your next purchase." Needless to say, I've never used a coupon code. I paid a total of $300 for Bluetooth for 17 months, so they give me a coupon code. I don't know how much the coupon code is but i will give this benefit and say it is 33% and the coupon code is for their website not amazon so the price for shipping and total price will be higher so even if i use a coupon code, to replace a broken speaker I paid $500 for 1 working bluetooth speaker, at this point I should have gone with Bose or UE, at least they did a 2 year guarantee.
