Review on 🎤 Black Sony ECMGZ1M Gun / Zoom Microphone by Neil Bodell

I got the mic a few days ago and my new A6000 yesterday. I tested it for most of the day, yesterday and today, and honestly I was furious. I have read many reviews, read all the comments and now I am more confused than ever. Some users say it doesn't work with their A6000, others say "rejoice". I tested in a backyard with a light breeze, passing cars and an airplane. No improvement over the internal microphone. I shot tests at the wide end of the zoom and the narrow end. No difference. Then I ran the same tests inside and no improvement over the internal mic. All descriptions speak of zoom mode and pistol mode, but when you switch to zoom you get a message on the display that the microphone is not compatible with the camera. . Other users say it works in pistol mode but the zoom is disabled but still works like pistol mode. Sony, you've been at the forefront of audio technology for decades and that's a real slap in the face. They try to get the public to buy your mics (I don't mind) but they don't work. You could be a rock star just by plugging in a mic jack. I am sending the microphone back and now I regret buying the camera.
