The product comes with a brief but helpful set of instructions that enabled me to set it up for my purposes in minutes. I plan to use it to hold my iPad for online piano instructions. The strong tension on the device holder makes it easier to place the iPad in the holder, but the iPad is unlikely to fall out due to this tension. The bracket is deep enough for me to mount an iPad with a case. I just hope this holder doesn't break in the future as I try to put my iPad back in place every week. The tripod with the attached iPad is very stable on my parquet floor. The product contains a small plastic device designed to be a desktop support for your iPhone, not your iPad.
