The kids size L fits my tall, athletic 9 year old better than the womens size as the kids version has lower legs and the torso seems higher on the chest (women had a low-cut bust). My only issue is that while you can place the clear straps in a variety of ways, the actual straps are difficult to adjust for length. This swimsuit is slightly wider than the women's version. So if you have a skinny kid, there may be extra fabric and it may not look smooth. The color was light enough for my fair skinned baby.
