Review on Litter Genie Ultimate Cat Litter Disposal System Refills - Purple, 12 Cartridges with Odor-Locking Power by Steven Dahl

Convenience and odor control

I have two big cats (half Maine Coon) and a bait lasts me about a month - according to the manufacturer's recommendation (1 cat / 2 months) - with scoop litter (Precious Cat - BEST , http://amzn.to/1HWSbTd) The thickness of the pouch/liner(s) and the design of the device itself eliminated unpleasant odors. I used to use plastic bags for groceries that had to be left in the bin because they stink. I switched to Litter Genie about two years ago and I certainly don't miss the smell. It's also nice to be able to throw out just ONE bin liner a week instead of several small bags, whereas I used to gather the contents into a grocery bag daily and empty it, tie it off, etc., now just toss the litter in the bin. Genius bucket, pull the handle to lower it to the ground, done - pull the bag once a week, done. Let's face it — Litter Genie is something of a luxury when it comes to cat grooming. It's not *necessary* but it's really nice, especially if you live in a small space like an efficient apartment. The downside is that liner/pouch refills can be quite expensive and hard to find depending on where you live. I'm willing to pay a little for the convenience it gives me, but $7.99 for a cartridge elsewhere was more than I was willing to pay. It's probably more cost-effective to use something like 8-gallon trash bags, but I'm willing to spend a few bucks more for convenience. Maybe I'll try this method for science, but at the moment I have cartridges for about a year.

Pros
  • Marvel's two months of daily plastic bag shopping and frequent trips to the trash can are now a thing of the past. One refill of the cartridge lasts for two months (for one cat).
Cons
  • threadbare
