A must have for your kit because you never know

If you ride with a Shimano 10-speed chain, you must have these Shimano 10-speed chain link pins in your kit. They work with any Shimano 10 speed chain, MTB, road or gravel. I use them with the Ultrega 6701. These pins are used to reconnect your chain after it has been "broken" either to remove the chain and clean it, or if the link is damaged and need to be removed or replaced got to. This is easily done with a chain breaker, a tool for removing and installing chain pins. These pins have a pilot half that breaks off when the pin is inserted into the link. This guide half makes it easier to insert the pin into the link holes. Once it's (halfway) inserted, the power switch is used to push the pin into place. You'll know when it's in place when you feel the resistance ease as you turn the screw handle to drive the stylus. After installation, use a tool to break the guide off the pin. I prefer to keep a few extra pins in my kit "just in case". It just recently turned out to be good practice. While riding, I slipped on a slippery path, broke the chain near the rear derailleur cage, and bent the link. The chain doesn't stay in the aisle, it slips off the aisle. I stripped the trail, removed the pins to remove the link and used a KMC MISSINGLINK 10R (Quick Link) to finish the ride. Back at home I removed the quick link and added some new links with two new chain pins. I have just ordered 3 more packs of these chain pins to complete my set. I have used these and Shimano 8 speed chain pins and have never had any problems. Sure, they're a bit pricey, but they're quality parts. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope it was helpful to you.
