Review on Ulanzi ST-02S Compatible iPhone Tripod Mount with Cold Shoe - Cell Phone Tripod Mount Adapter, Aluminum Tripod Phone Mount, Metal Smartphone Tripod Adapter by Jerardo Phi

This is a great phone tripod mount if your phone and case aren't too big! The product documentation states that this ST-02S model fits a phone and case up to 3.7 inches wide. I have a new iPhone XS Max in a heavy Pelican "Shield" case. The body is only 3.5 inches wide but barely fits due to the V-shaped pad clamp on the tripod mount. In order to fit my phone and bag into this tripod mount, I have to open the top bracket at the end of the two guide rods so the springs are visible (see pictures). When tightened onto the phone and case, the guide rods don't go all the way into their sockets, making the grip too weak to securely hold the expensive iPhone. I've since ordered the Ulanzi ST-03 tripod mount, which opens wider (the guide rods are longer) and accommodates my iPhone and thick case much better than the ST-02S.
