Unnecessary hoses: Sport

A little background - my CX bike is more of a light trail bike but gets ridden a lot. The original tires and tubes have endured thousands of miles; When the tires were completely worn out, I decided to put new inner tubes on my bike. That set of cameras was enough for thousands more. Last winter I decided to put my CX on a trainer indoors and put on a new rear tire. (as you can imagine my padded kendas on the sneakers were goddamn loud). Said exercise splint was a bear that could be put on and taken off; and when I took it off a few weeks ago I was messing around and pinching the tube a bit with tire levers (my regular kendas can be plugged in and out with a firm hand and no leverage) and poke a small hole in it. Hitting the trails fast, I ordered these two camera packs (and used my mountain bike in the meantime) even though I only needed one (I like to have spares on hand, although they usually last for years). Delivery. Open the tube, attach it to the rim, put the kendu back on. Pump it up and put the bike away for another day of riding. The next day I load my bike into the car. and the back is flat. I will censor my next words. tire and tube removed; checked my rim, rim tape and tire for anything that might be causing the problem. Everything is clean and clear. Get pipe #2, install it (no levers), air it out and hit the trail (this was from the rails to the trails - so nowhere near trying pipe). 15 miles to travel, fine. Feeling a bit spongy - look down and behind - and indeed the tire is losing pressure. I was lucky enough to find a pump along the side of the trail (didn't bring a mini or inflator; foolishly thought it was a short trip and I've been used to riding tubes for years) and pumped it back up. Rode 22 km and put the bike back in the car. Downloaded the next morning (during MTB loading) and yes - totally flat.0/2. I freely admit (and am aware) that if I make a mistake and ruin a lamp - that didn't happen here - it's just trash pipes. Total waste of time and money; Even if I had a third one on the shelf I would never be able to use it at this point as I would worry/wait for it to fail if it ever gets installed.

Pros
  • Tires and hoses
Cons
