Review on Stay Warm In The Outdoors With ALPS OutdoorZ Redwood -10° Sleeping Bag by Charlie Maadhadians

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Car-camping king on my review.

This sleeping bag is going with me on a car-camping road trip after New Years. However, I was able to test this sleeping bag out last night since the temperature dropped so much. In Texas, it got down to 16 degrees Fahrenheit with 54% humidity. I kept two windows cracked open to prevent condensation on the windows and was nice & toasty in this thing!-I was wearing a base layer and flannel shirt for my top-I wore a base layer and pajamas for the bottom, but actually had to take them both off along with my socks because it got too warm. This left me with boxers and the top layers still there. It could be that I sleep warmer than others, but this was surprising to me.-I did use a sleeping pad with a high R-value rating so that helped keep the cold from getting me underneath.-I wore a bomber/trapper type hat and was able to cover my eyes by folding the front flap down.To be fair, I haven't tried out any products similar to this one. However, with how warm this thing is along with the soft & seemingly high quality construction, I don't see myself changing it out for anything. One thing that was important for my situation is the fact that the cotton keeps the bag fairly breathable. I'm one of those people that sweat easily than others with polyester blankets/sleeping bags. Being that this will be staying in my car I don't need to worry about drying times. Also, I have the ALPS OutdoorZ poly-cotton sleeping bag liner in there to help with keeping it clean and dry.Remember, this is not a backpacking sleeping bag as it is huge and weighs over 10 lbs. For car camping and base camping it is definitely on the luxurious side!

Pros
  • The included stuff sack makes it easy to pack and carry the sleeping bag, ensuring that you can take it with you on all of your outdoor adventures
Cons
  • The sleeping bag may not be suitable for individuals who need to frequently get in and out of the bag
