Oddly super oily when it arrived I washed it off with dish soap and the oil came off they are SHARP and will do the job! Amazing purchase as they are just as good as the $16 thread trimmers I bought. The only thing we use is that we use them to cut the thread on single session orders. I don't think they would be good for cutting thread while watching because they don't have a grip and I feel like reaching for the wire cutters would cut you easily. The $16 clippers I have are good for cutting while sewing because you can reach them without looking, and the way they're constructed means they're sharp but hardly as light for her.
